These winter coats are made to order and are cut to fit the shape of your greyhound, sighthound ,whippet or Italian greyhound. There are made with Quilted 2oz wadding onto 4oz waterproof polyester and are fully lined with quality polar fleece.
With it’s long fleece neck Designed to go over your hounds head and fasten with an adjustable Velcro belt on the waist.
It is important to consider the ease of movement when choosing a coat for your sighthound. A coat should not restrict their movements. You should ensure that the coat is comfortable around their chests and fits comfortably along their spine. A well-fitted coat should not require you to purchase a larger size, but it is worth considering if you plan to layer.
Coats are machine washable at 30 without detergent.
As these coats are custom made to your requirements ,they therefore cannot be returned. I ask you to please don’t order unless you have measured as per the instructions.
We now make matching ladies gilts – body warmers.
A harness hole can be added to the coats at no extra cost if required. I will need to know how far down from the base of neck you need it to be. This can be added to the notes to the seller at checkout.

How to Measure your Hound :
Length:
With the dog standing, using a cloth measuring tape, ( NOT METAL) take the length of your hounds back from the base of the neck along the spine to over the hind quarters to where you want the coat to sit, THIS IS THE SIZE OF COAT YOU WILL ORDER.

Measure round the deepest part of the chest.

This is my second special order coat and I’m thrilled with the way it turned out. The first one was absolutely beautiful too. At the time I purchased my first coat my greyhound was newly adopted and significantly underweight. I made it work and she wore the coat for the first two years. I received so many complements when she wore it! I finally decided to order her a bigger size and I do not regret it. She loves her new coat so much that she often jumps into her bed and refuses to let me take it off. Not only is it functional, but it is beautiful! I like to layer a pair of her pajamas underneath when it’s really cold. I recommend buying your hounds one of these coats!

I’ve been searching for a good quality waterproof winter coat with a harness hole that didn’t cost the earth for ages and was beginning to think it was hopeless, when I found The Whippet Coats. I love this winter coat so much, I bought another one, and my friend wanted one for her whippet too! We get so many compliments when he’s wearing it. It keeps him dry and warm, and I love that the snood protects his neck, too.

Great quality. LOVE IT! It’s just what we needed to keep our little lurcher warm. Instead of pulling to get back into the warm house, our boy is loving his walks in the rain and cold. Size came up ever so slightly small so might advise to add an extra inch to measurements. The harness hole wasn’t as useful as we had thought and is tricky to get the D ring of harness through. The lead is able to fit through the harness hole but sometime gets caught on the coat and comes unclipped. Our easy solution was to put the harness on top of the coat, which helps protect it from any brambles or barbed wire whilst out and about.

I cannot believe the quality of the winter coat that we ordered for our 9 month old whippet.
